This is the warrior mask, from a tribe called the Gandjahls from the northern part of Ghana.  It is intricately hand decorated with colourful beads, and polished brass inlay placed around the edge of the head. This mask is representative of many northern tribes in Ghana and these specific features and boldness of colours used are indicative of warrior characteristics. This mask would have traditionally been worn by soldiers after a “battle” had been won (usually regarding land), and the soldiers proudly return home to some sort of party/welcoming.
